In the heart of Elmwood Village, you’ll find Bidwell Park, one of the many hidden gems in the Queen City. Bidwell hosts some of the summer’s best events that bring together the local community for fun and entertainment.
Here are just a few of the things you’ll find at happening in Bidwell this summer.
On July 20th, over 1,400 racers from all over will meet in Bidwell for “Western New York’s Social Running Event of the Year”. This 4-mile-long race includes participants from ages 7-80 competing to win $10,000 in prize money. The race starts promptly at 7 p.m., and you can enjoy live music and Happy Hour prior to the start. Register early to secure your free T-Shirt!
The Summer Concert Series is hosted by the Elmwood Village Association where local musicians play at a family-friendly evening of entertainment and fun. The concerts are free and open to the public, and any donation and beverage sales support the Elmwood Village Association.

The event is presented by Independent Health, who provides free exercise classes all across the Buffalo area. At Bidwell Park, you can find PiYo, an athletic combination of yoga and pilates, every Saturday at 10 a.m. It’s a great and cheap way to keep up your health this summer!
The Buffalo Reading Invasion brings together any and all readers at a selected park once a month to read from 7-8 p.m. So grab your friends and a book from your summer reading list and spend some quality time in the park! Check out their site to see when and where their next invasion takes place.
Elmwood Village Farmers Market
The Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market is a producer-only market, where no product is resold and you buy from the farmer directly. Here, the community comes together to create a healthy local economy.
Here in Elmwood Village, we are very lucky to have Bidwell Park right around the corner. Bidwell has so much to offer the community, most at little to no cost. Spending time here not only supports local businesses but increases community engagement and is a great way to meet some of the wonderful people in the area.
