Vampires and Werewolves and Ghosts, oh my!

Halloween is coming, and before you think it’s all candy and fun, there are some dangerous things out there. Vampires, werewolves, witches and ghosts are just some of the most common scary monsters lurking out there and you need to stay safe! Forget what you think you know, because often Hollywood has it wrong. This is a quick guide to protecting yourself from those things that go bump in the night.

VAMPIRES

What are they? Vampires are a race of blood-drinking supernatural creatures that were once human. A vampire’s appearance is that of a normal human. However, they all have sharp, pointed, retractable teeth that emerge from their gums and extend beyond their human teeth. This set of fangs descend at the vampire’s will, usually when they are about to feed.

How do I protect myself? Don’t believe everything you see in the movies or read on the internet to save yourself from these nasty creatures of the night. Vampires can only be killed by beheading. A cross won’t repel them, sunlight won’t kill them, and neither will a stake to the heart.

WEREWOLVES

What are they? Werewolves are the ultimate combination of wolves and humans. They always eat the heart, although they do sometimes eat more of the body. The transformation only occurs after a werewolf bites a victim.

How do I protect myself? This one is actually pretty accurate to Hollywood’s depiction. A werewolf’s main weakness is their vulnerability to silver or any substance containing silver. They can be killed with a silver knife or bullet and any contact with silver will hurt them.

GHOSTS

What are they? Ghosts are souls of deceased humans that did not go with their reaper to Heaven or Hell and are stuck on Earth. Ghosts are often bound to an object or a place, normally the building they died/lived in. They are also sometimes bound to their bodies unless their bodies have been put to rest.

How do I protect myself? Ghosts can be repelled by salt and can’t cross a line made of salt. Iron also keeps spirits at bay, some use an iron crowbar or fire poker to swing in their direction. While this will slow them down, it won’t stop them from coming back. The best and most common method to put a ghost to rest is by digging up a ghost’s human remains and salting and burning the bones. When a ghost’s bones are successfully salted and burned, the ghost will go up in flames and they will have moved on. If that doesn’t work, I recommend just calling the Ghostbusters.

Hopefully you’ll never encounter any of these things, but if you do, you will now be prepared and if you’re buying a house that you think has a ghost in in, maybe pick up some salt first. Remember, for assistance on any of your real estate needs, give us a call at 716-768-1177.
